Quaint New Harmony, Indiana Wedding

Updated: Jul 29, 2022

Golf carts whizzing by during a small town festival was a change of scenery for Matt and Alisha from Santa Cruz, California. After a private beach elopement in the Bahamas, they later came together with family and friends in the quaint town of New Harmony, Indiana for their second celebration.

Every bride (and her photographer) who plans an outdoor wedding is hopeful for one thing, no rain. But on this day, the rain came…and it came hard. Before the ceremony, which was originally supposed to surrounded by the natural beauty of trees and water, we rushed all of their decor from outside to inside the charming Red Geranium Restaurant at the New Harmony Inn.

On this particular day, I was wearing two hats. Not only was I capturing every beautiful, significant moment, but before that I helped to set the scene, doubling as their floral designer with For the Beauty Floral. I built a floral install on an A-Frame altar right in front of the lake. So, you guessed it, after hours of creating this piece, I had to rush it all inside. Let’s just say, thank goodness I didn’t need to be in any of the photos.

Despite the change of plans, everything came together beautifully. The wedding decor had elements of romance. It was chic, airy, and boho.

And don’t even get me started on Alisha. Her dress fit the scene perfectly and was so beautiful to photograph. She radiated classic romance - which led their photos to be warm and truly timeless.

Alisha and Matt are such an easy-going couple. After their ceremony, we snuck into a private evergreen wooded area for "just married" portraits. This part of the day was like a sweet exhale, and a perfect break in the rain to take some photos surrounded by nature.
